To the NHSACA Board | August 2025
Scott Garvis NHSACA President
National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA)
A Message of Purpose & Passion
Dear Esteemed NHSACA Board Members,
As we embark on another year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the foundational mission of the NHSACA and cast a bold vision for the road ahead. We stand united by a commitment to Support, Educate, and Recognize Coaches, and it is with this shared passion that we will shape the future of high school athletics nationwide.
Let us not simply maintain the legacy, we must build upon it.
Goals for the Year Ahead
1. Advance NHSACA Education
We will continue to create powerful, relevant online coaching resources, professional development workshops, and certification programs. We are exploring dynamic partnerships with educational institutions to ensure coaches across the country have access to the highest level of training.
2. Elevate Recognition Systems
Our aim is to build a fully integrated, user-friendly recognition platform that not only enhances Coach of the Year (COTY) and Hall of Fame experiences but also increases transparency and accessibility. These prestigious events provide an ideal opportunity to elevate NHSACA visibility and attract sponsorships.
3. Deepen Support Structures
We will launch state-level support & mentorship programs, offer grants and scholarships, and introduce comprehensive wellness & mental health resources for our coaching community.
A Vision of Impact & Innovation
As your President, I envision the NHSACA becoming the foremost advocate & catalyst for excellence in high school coaching. We are not just an association, we are a movement.
We are driving:
- A dynamic community of learning & sharing.
- Positive student-athlete experiences.
- Coaching leaders prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
This vision will be realized through our expanding digital footprint, improved branding, and the storytelling of coach success across the nation.
The Challenge Before Us: Relevance Through Renewal
Our greatest challenge this year is renewing our relevance with today’s generation of coaches and educational leaders. That means:
- Mentoring young coaches through intentional programs.
- Adapting to technological shifts in learning, communication, & recognition.
- Engaging nationally, while staying deeply connected locally.
We must collectively raise the profile of the NHSACA brand. This includes implementing a digital strategy that features social media campaigns, coach spotlights, and the potential launch of an NHSACA mobile app with integrated features like virtual clinics, coaching content, and award application access.
Strategic Pillars for Growth
1. Membership Expansion
We are initiating a targeted campaign to build both individual and state association membership. Our success will hinge on innovative membership packages, storytelling, and relationship-building.
2. National Partnerships
We must align with brands & organizations that reflect our values. We will leverage assets like COTY, Hall of Fame, and NHSACA Education to attract meaningful sponsorships from leaders like Adidas, Nike, & Under Armour.
3. Youth Coach Engagement
This is a priority. From custom webinars to developmental resources, our focus will be on making the NHSACA a beacon of support for emerging professionals entering the coaching field.
Final Thoughts
Together, we have the power to shape the national narrative around high school coaching. We honor the generations who built this organization and accept the responsibility to forge a future that is inclusive, innovative, and inspiring.
Let us step forward with purpose, resilience, and unity. This is our time. Let’s be bold in our leadership and unwavering in our commitment to the coaches we serve.
Yours in Education Based Athletics!
